ABSTRACT
Many problems pertaining to Carbonate
petrology can only be understood within
the frame of the "tempo-spatial"
evolution of the Earth as a whole. In
this paper, the author introduces the
idea of a mineralogical evolution of the
Earth 's atmosphere and its bearing on
both chemical and biochemical activities
in the sedimentary environment.
The data are partially based an earlier
works of different authors as well as on
laboratory and fieldwork done by the
author during the last two decades.
