Paleocene to lower (?) Eocene (Ta) index fossil, Distichoplax biserialis (Dietrich), recognized in the Philippines for the first time, occurs abundantly in organic limestones. It is possibly a shallow marine alga-like organism whose nature and classification is not yet definitely established.
