FORAMINIFERAL ZONATION OF
SVOC FAIRE
NO. 1 WELL, CAGAYAN, LUZON
BENJAMIN A. GONZALES
ABSTRACT
Studies made on ditch samples from Faire
#1 well drilled by Standard Vacuum Oil
Co. in the Cagayan Valley revealed seven
(7) foraminiferal zones established on
the basis of limited age ranges of small
Foraminifera association and (or) marker
species. Three sedimentary rock units
ranging in age from middle Miocene to
Pleistocene were penetrated by the drill
hole. Formational contacts based on
paleontological evidences were delimited
and found to roughly coincide with the
same contacts established by electric
logs, micrologs, and estimated
thicknesses of the three formations.
Repetition of beds occurs at 8,530 feet
as indicated by the recurrence of late
Miocene (Tert. f3) species below that
depth.
