PRELIMINARY REPORT ON THE GEOLOGY OF THE
DOLOMITIC LIMESTONE IN CEBU, PHILIPPINES
RUPERTO B. JAGOLINO
ABSTRACT
The dolomitic limestone in Cebu occurs
as irregular masses in the Carcar
Limestone, the youngest Tertiary
formation in the province. Preliminary
studies tend to show that the dolomitic
limestone is of the replacement type,
probably almost contemporaneous with
minor leaching. Its distribution and
occurrence in areas fringing the
coastline suggests that sea water has
something to do with dolomitization.
