Abstract

This paper discusses the present environmental profile of the Mindanao Geothermal Production Field (MGPF), almost 20 years after its 1990 baseline characterization. The discussion will focus on the physical, chemical and biological components of the environment. The social dimensions of the project were excluded from the scope, as this will be discussed in a separate paper. The significant events that influenced the project’s development and its eventual operation, and the environmental and watershed initiatives that demonstrated the company’s commitment and desire to promote an ecologically sound environment in the area will also be presented.
