| PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF THE EROSION PROBLEMS IN BARANGAY MABAYO, MORONG BATAAN
Gil G. Cardiel and Rodel L. Concepcion School of Earth and Material Science and Engineering Mapua Institute of Technology
Results of the preliminary erosion assessment using terrain/geomorphological and hydrogeological mapping, and geotechnical zoning reveal that a combination of natural and anthropogenic causes contributed to the slope and beach erosion at Barangay Mabayo, Morong Bataan.. Among the natural factors that trigger erosion are the high erosivity and erodibility of the slopes. Poor excavation and slope design, inadequate or absence of drainage structures, removal of vegetal support due to road development, improper disposal of construction spoils and embankments are the major anthropogenic causes that triggers erosion. |
