ABSTRACT
The Petroleum Division of the Bureau of
Mines is presently undertaking a general
program involving biostratigraphic
studies of the major depositional basins
in the country. The primary object of
this program is to establish bases for
intra-and extra basinal and regional
correlations by the use of fossil
Foraminifera and, finally, to
standardize the stratigraphic
nomenclature of the Philippines. In
connection with this project plane table
section measurements and detailed
microfaunal sampling were undertaken
along roads in Bondoc Peninsula, Quezon.
Subsequently, detailed studies of the
microforaminiferal fauna collected
therefrom, particularly their
bathymetric distribution and
associations as related to lithofacies,
were undertaken.
